If most dance studios seem to have fun and friendly teachers, experience teaching children and a big show at the end of the year, aren't they all pretty much the same? No-they are not. There are four main things that can make a huge difference in the quality of your experience at dance class.
1. WHAT KIND OF DANCE FLOOR IS USED?
Dance is a very physical activity that requires a lot of jumping, which can put stress on bones and joints. Most Dance footwear does not provide any cushioning or support, so the shock of dance movement can place a lot of pressure on the knees and back of a dancer. The best way to prevent against potential injury is by choosing a studio with a professional "floating floor". A Floating Floor is a dance floor that rests on a system of high density foam, to absorb the shock of jumping. A high-density foam base is superior to a "sprung" floor, which usually consists of a wood structure built on a regular floor.
Our studio has floating floors over high density foam blocks and a Marley surface top that is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected frequently during the week. Our special floors reduce the risk of injuries and allow students to dance longer without getting tired.
2. WHO ARE THE INSTRUCTORS?
Realdance prides itself in housing one of the finest faculties in any dance studio in South Florida. Our faculty are all ADULT, certified instructors by either Dance Masters of America, Dance Educators of America, or the Royal Academy of Dancing. What this means is our teachers have had to sit for both written and oral exams in TEACHING dance. Many people call themselves dance teachers, yet they have nor formal training in HOW to teach. They might have danced as students all their lives but they are not necessarily educated in WHAT to teach (if movement is not age appropriate a child can become inured!) or HOW to teach it. Proper dance technique, if not instilled from the beginning cannot generally be "unlearned" once a child receives poor training.
If you go to our website, www.realdancestudio.com, you can read the resumes of the rest of the Realdance faculty. They are highly skilled and expertly trained professionals in their fields. Our teachers have proven track records, having trained countless dancers who are now performing in professional venues or even teaching themselves. You will see in our high quality and very entertaining recital in May just how talented our instructors are!
3. IS THE LOCATION CONVENIENT?
We are located at 2016 East Sample Road, just east of Federal Highway, inside the beautiful new Gateway Center. Gateway also houses Bonefish Mac's, one of the busiest new restaurants in the area. We are also across the street from the Venetian Isles shopping center, where you can find Publix, TJ Maxx and Party City. CVS is on our corner. Busy parents can drop their children off for an hour or 90 minutes and use that time to run errands, grocery shop, grab a bite to eat or even relax and get a manicure or a massage a few doors down at the spa.
Gas prices are climbing and show now sign of slowing down. All your children's activities should be in places that are conveniently and centrally located so you can make the most of your time!
4. CAN I GET IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE?
We are always available to answer any questions you might have. If you need immediate assistance you can e-mail us at realdancestudio@aol.com and you will almost always receive and answer by the end of that day. We have a communication system for each child as well - a rolling folder file in our office where all notices and newsletters are distributed in each child's folder. You will always be kept informed as to what is going on in our studio as communication between our staff and the parents is paramount!
